Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! Whether you are returning to us or joining the Coronado family for the very first time, I am absolutely thrilled to welcome you to another incredible year of learning, growth, and community.

At Coronado Elementary School, we are dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing, and safe environment where every student is challenged academically and supported emotionally. Our talented educators have spent the summer preparing engaging lessons and vibrant classrooms designed to spark curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning.

As we enter the new school year, we have several exciting staffing updates and classroom transitions within our Coronado family:

• Tessa Yakush, our former 6th-grade teacher, is moving up to Junior High ELA.
• April Long, our former 1st-grade teacher, is moving up to teach 2nd grade.
• Katrina Dargwin joins us as our new 4th-grade teacher.
• Dakotah Shelton joins our team in the 6th-grade classroom.
• Lexi Plumlee is our brand-new Art teacher.
• Sherry Hardgrave joins us in a dual role as our part-time Digital Media Lab teacher and part-time Dean of Students, expanding our specials options.
• Lisa Satterfield will continue leading our G.A.T.E. (Gifted and Talented Education) program and will also launch a brand-new Exploration Specials class focusing on STEM and career exploration.

We firmly believe that a child’s success is a shared responsibility between the school and the home.
